Waterside Gymnastics consists of three squads; Team Gym, Aerobics, and Women’s Artistic, competing at County, Regional, National and International Events, representing the club and GB. Membership to the squads is gained through selection and monitored once achieved. The number and length of training sessions for the different squads is variable according to age and development.
Women’s Artistic gymnastics is a spectacular discipline combining artistry grace and power. At London 2012
Womens Artistic Gymnastics continued its tradition of being one of the most enthralling and well watched
It’s fascination and popularity amongst girls of all ages lies in it’s ability to provide constant challenge and teach body control, coordination, amplitude and courage.
It was the sport of choice for the UK’s most decorated gymnast, Beth Tweddle, who began the sport at an early age yet continues to thrill audiences the world over, with her ability to innovate and prove that age is no barrier to participation and success.
Group gymnastics at its best!
TeamGym is a team competition for men and women with routines being performed on:
TeamGym competitions provide a great opportunity for those gymnasts not wishing to take part in all six (men’s artistic) or four (women’s artistic) gymnastics, to work as part of a team. At Waterside our teams compete in three categories: women, men and mixed teams. In each of the three categories a team may consist of between 6 to 12 gymnasts.
TeamGym routines require effective teamwork, excellent technique and spectacular acrobatic elements. Training and competitions generate an excellent team spirit amongst gymnasts with routines providing great entertainment and spectacle for participants and spectators alike.
Aerobic Gymnastics is perhaps the most dynamic and energetic of all the gymnastic disciplines. It is immediately recognisable for its high energy and heart pounding routines.
Aerobic routines are not only great fun to train and compete in, but also to watch. The upbeat music constantly keeps the audience alert and involved with the gymnast, whose aim is to captivate with enthusiasm and dynamism.
Aerobic gymnastics is the perfect sport for those who are looking for a great way to keep in shape, have a good ear for music and a willingness to take their cardio-vascular fitness to new levels.
Under the direction of head coach Beth Martin our Aerobic gymnasts regularly compete at both regional and national level.
If you’ve got energy to burn then Aerobic Gymnastics is the sport for you.
Our development squad was established to allow young, talented gymnasts aged between 5 and 7 the opportunity to further develop their conditioning and skills on all apparatus. It is brilliant to watch our young gymnasts grow in confidence and experience new skills within a fun environment.
When children finish training within development squad they move into general gym, team gym, aerobic gymnastics, women’s artistic.
